Great to be back at RoboSoft!
I enjoyed attending, and giving a talk at, the ‘Soft Transitions: Soft Robots for Land, Amphibious, Underwater Locomotion’ workshop organized by Saravana Prashanth Murali Babu, Poramate Manoonpong, Rebecca Kramer-Bottiglio, and Kotaro Yasui. Congratulations to our HKUST Integrative Systems and Design undergraduate students Bryce Chan, Ho Wang Tam, Kwan Yiu Tam, and Hiu Lam Yu for presenting their work on a penguin robot for penguin caretaking in collaboration with Ocean Park Corporation.
At the main conference, Yongkai Ye presented his extended abstract on “enhancing the sensitivity of piezoresistive suction cups using cephalopod-inspired papillae” on stage, as one of the 10 extended abstracts (out of a total of 212) nominated for the extended abstract award. Special thanks to our collaborators on this project Guillermo Amador, Brett Klaassen van Oorschot, and Guoxin FANG.
A big congratulations to Sweder van Dipten and Ming Chun Chan for winning the art gallery award for the second year in a row with their art installation titled “breath of a GRACE”. This project was a collaboration with artist brian LAU. With 18 three-dimensional artworks and 11 photographic artworks exhibited at a public space at Kanazawa station, this year’s art gallery was again a great success!
See you next year in Brisbane!
